Rain and cool change on the way

SUNNY skies were just the ticket for Jack and Ebony Sheard as the brother and sister took full advantage of the 33 degree heat yesterday.

They headed to one of their favourite spots, Leslie Park, for an afternoon's play. And it may the last chance they get as rain could keep them indoors for the rest of the week.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Vinord Anand said a trough moving in from the west would lead to increased showers and thunderstorms over the next few days.

"There is a good chance we'll see storms (today) and again Wednesday," Mr Vinord said.

"But as that trough weakens quite a bit we'll be back to just showers by Thursday."

He said Friday should see the storms move further out to the Western Downs area, with only a slight chance of rain.

He said temperatures rose this week due to hot air coming from the west but a high pressure ridge from the south would see the mercury drop.

"It will send slightly cooler, fairly moist air," Mr Vinord said.

"What you might be seeing (tomorrow) morning is quite a bit of broken low level cloud, so you might get some light drizzle or light showers."

He said Warwick could expect anywhere between 10-25mm of rain to fall over the next few days.

"But slow moving thunderstorms can easily bring more rain," Mr Vinord said.
