Morning TV favourites ready to cross paths with Santa

LISA Wilkinson and her Carols co-host David Campbell both have a lot to celebrate this holiday season.

The Today Show enjoyed its highest ratings in 12 years this year, and Wilkinson was also appointed editor-at-large of The Huffington Post Australia.

"It's been the most extremely busy news year... and we've proved again and again this year we're the show you watch if you want breaking and accurate news and the best political interviews," Wilkinson told APN.

"Our growth this year has been enormous and that's due to hard work of a fantastic team behind the scenes."

Mornings co-host Campbell is revelling in fatherhood as his twins William and Elizabeth near their first birthday.

"He loves fatherhood more than just about any dad I know," she said.

"He's in heaven and it's beautiful."

The TV personalities leave their families at home for their Carols by Candlelight hosting duties in Melbourne, catching a late-night flight back to Sydney to be at home on Christmas morning.

"Most years we see Santa in the skies between Sydney and Melbourne. I'm going to try to get a picture this year, a selfie with Santa," Wilkinson laughed.

Delta Goodrem headlines Channel 9's traditional evening of Christmas Eve entertainment.

Currently starring in Cats The Musical, Goodrem will be joined by carols favourites Anthony Callea, Tim Campbell, Marina Prior, Silvie Paladino, David Hobson and Denis Walter.

"Call me a sucker but I love Silent Night; that's the one that usually brings me undone first," Wilkinson said.

"But when you start moving into the modern Christmas songs, you ain't seen anyone dance until you see me dance to (Mariah Carey's) All I Want for Christmas is You."

Artists making their Carols by Candlelight debut include this year's Voice winner Ellie Drennan, X Factor alumni Taylor Henderson, children's entertainer and recent ARIA Award winner Sam Moran and Karen Jacobsen, who is best known as the voice of GPS and Siri to millions around the world.

Carols by Candlelight airs tonight at 8pm on Channel 9/WIN.
