Most Aussie snag made right here in Warwick
AUSSIES will defend Vegemite until they're blue in the face to anyone who dares badmouth the breakfast staple.
Warwick business Carey Bros Butchery has taken Australia's love for Vegemite one step further this Australia day, by creating a special Vegemite, cheese and beef snag.
Staff member Stephen Turnbull said it could be tricky to convince people to give them a go, but they were quite delicious.
"You don't get a big strong hit of Vegemite," he said.
"It's basically our normal beef sausage so you get a bit of a hint of Vegemite and cheese."
A honey, mint, rosemary and lamb sausage has also been put on the menu for locals planning an Australia Day barbecue.
Both types of snag are going for $12.99 per kilo.
Mr Turnbull said lamb chops and beef and pork sausages were also popular picks.
Lamb chops also come in an special Australia Day marinade or rosemary and mint.
Australia Day week is a busy time for local butchers, as people stock up before the big day.
"Around these times you get a few people going out camping who stop in," Mr Turnbull said.
