Mother of baby boy abandoned at station now in hospital
A 21-YEAR-OLD woman believed to the mother of a baby boy abandoned outside a Rockhampton ambulance station has been located by police.
Police said the woman was at the Rockhampton hospital.
The newborn baby was found left outside a Rockhampton Ambulance Station before 1am on Thursday.
The baby has been taken to the Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition.
A police spokewoman says the baby is a boy, which was found wrapped in cloth.
The staff at the CBD station received a call at 12.40am informing them of the child out the front of the station, which is situated on the corner of Fitzroy and Denison Sts.
Police were earlier concerned about the welfare of the mother and appealing for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day.
