Mothers cry foul on facilities
MUMS have flooded a Facebook page with frustrations over inadequate facilities in parents' rooms in Rose City Shoppingworld.
A page dedicated to the issue has been bombarded by mothers calling for automatic doors, bench top change tables, bigger toilet stalls and more comfortable seating.
Mum of two Alisa Stewart said she avoided the rooms altogether, and would opt to feed her children in a cafe when out.
"It seems clean but they smell bad and they are really cramped," she said. "When you are feeding you feel like you are locked away in a cubicle and it's not very pleasant at all."
Mrs Stewart has resorted to using the disabled toilet as it was the only one she could use without having to leave her children unattended.
Mum of three Kaylah Kirkland said she thought the room also needed to cater to the needs of older children.
"I think it would be great to have a little play area with a few toys or a TV to keep the older kids occupied while you feed or change the baby," she said.
"Of course, to do that they would need to make it bigger, which would be good because it's so hard to get prams in and out of there."
Mrs Kirkland said the change tables at the facility were "terrible" and also needed attention.
Rose City Shoppingworld manager Jason Gard said the area would be looked at in an upcoming redevelopment and he welcomed feedback from local parents.
