A MAN and woman were left in a serious condition after the motorbike they were riding was allegedly hit by a truck at The Summit.

A spokesman from Queensland Ambulance Services said the woman suffered leg injuries but the injuries sustained by the man were unknown.

Emergency services attended the scene on the corner of the New England Highway and Tracey lane about 8.15pm last night.

Both the 27-year-old man and 23-year-old woman were transported to Stanthorpe Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A spokesman from Queensland Police Services said the truck did not stop at the scene and police were investigating the incident.

It was not the only crash to occur on the Southern Downs last night.

Emergency services were called to the corner of Sugarloaf Rd and Pioneers Pde at Stanthorpe about 6.09pm.

A spokesman from Queensland Ambulance Services said a car had reportedly crashed into a tree.

A man was assessed by paramedics on scene but he did not require transport to hospital.
