Motorcycle season starts and superbikes later in year

THE Motorcycle Sportsmen of Queensland were at Morgan Park for the first time this year at the weekend and attracted 150 riders.

The club has booked Morgan Park Raceway for 36 days this year, including five rounds of the Southern Downs Road Race Series.

Ladies' Day will be on October 7.

Morgan Park Raceway will be the venue for round 5 of the Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championships on August 16-19.

There are seven rounds of the series with classes including YMI Superbike, Kawasaki Supersport, Supersport 300, YMF R3 Cup, F1 and F2 Sidecars and GP Juniors Cup.

Athletics on

THE Warwick Little Athletics Centre was represented by 11 athletes at the regionals at Laidley on Saturday and Sunday.

All performed well with Breanna Ragh and Shakira Saunders placing in each of their events. Shakira also recorded two personal bests.

Some Warwick athletes have qualified for state championships in March.

Despite the hot weather, Warwick Little Athletics went ahead at Hamilton Oval on Sunday.

With the regionals over, it will be back to regular club days for members, from 3-5pm Sunday at Hamilton Oval.
