Motorist clocked at 160kmh on New England Hwy

A MOTORIST has been clocked at 160kmh on the New England Hwy near Allora, prompting a warning from police about the danger of speeding.

Allora police officers intercepted the man yesterday morning and he was issued with a high speed infringement notice.

Sergeant Shane Reid, of Warwick police, said speeds of 160kmh were a danger to drivers and to other road users.

"There will be plenty of traffic enforcements by police in the area during the Christmas Road Safety Campaign and over the whole holiday period," he said.

"Police are targetting the fatal five, drink and drug driving, wearing of seatbelts, speeding, fatigue, distraction and inattention."
