Mo the force be with Warwick police
YOU may have noticed many of the male Warwick police officers sporting some extra hair above their top lip this month.
Officers at the station have been getting into the Movember spirit, raising money for men's health, along with officers from the Goondiwindi CIB, the Stanthorpe CIB and the Warwick Child Protection Investigation Unit.
"Our team name is Team Tambo," Warwick Criminal Investigation Branch Detective Sergeant Darren Tamblyn - also the team founder - said.
"It's a great cause, it relates to cancer and mental health for men, and the team has been going well."
Det Sgt Tamblyn said everyone at the station had been getting involved.
"This is the first year we've participated in Movember," he said.
"We thought it would be a good idea to get involved and the support's been great - the jokes about our moustaches have been flying around so we've started fining people $5 for their jokes.
"It still hasn't slowed the comments."
Det Sgt Tamblyn said the wives of the officers were looking forward to the end of the month when the extra facial hair is due to be removed.
