MP told to pull head in over quit threat

A COLLEAGUE of Federal member for Dawson George Christensen has told the National party whip to pull his head on over threats to quit the party.

One of Mr Christensen's colleagues has told the MP to pull his head in, or give up the position of whip for the Nationals.

Mr Christensen has threatened to cross the floor on several issues in 2016.

Thursday morning Mr Christensen posted to Facebook reaffirming his loyalty to the Nationals, but also offered some advice to the Turnbull government.

"With satisfaction with democracy at an all-time low in this country, I really do hope that 2017 heralds a new way of doing things for the Turnbull government and for politics in general," Mr Christensen stated in the post.

"A lot of people have told me to pull the pin on the government and go with another entity. However, I am loyal to Barnaby Joyce, loyal to the Nationals, and - most of all - loyal to local LNP members who selected me to be their candidate.

"What the Turnbull government needs to do is start being more loyal to the voters and the party members who sent us here or there will come a time when remaining inside the tent is no longer tenable to my conscience or my voters."
