Mullets are one tip for the cricket carnival
Howzat with Michael Bourke
STUNNED Mullets will start favourites to win another Australia Day cricket carnival in Warwick this year.
What teams can stun the Mullets this year with an upset win?
Probably the only teams likely to make this happen would be the Hulk's XI, Doc's XI, Maryvale-Condamine or Summers. The grand final on Sunday afternoon shapes up as a must-see event with the coloured pink cricket balls.
Lynn injury
CHRIS Lynn has often been given the nickname of Lynnsanity for his insane ability to hit big sixes and single handedly winning games for the Brisbane Heat.
With Lynn being injured for the finals for the Brisbane Heat last season and most of this season, one could almost be excused for adjusting his nickname to Linjury which combines Lynn and injury in the one name.
All that aside, Lynn is my favourite batsman to watch hit boundaries in the BBL and it is enjoyable to watch his batting partnerships with Brendon McCullum as part of the Big Bash brothers.
Lloyd Pope's
heavenly spell
AUSTRALIAN under-19 leg spinner Lloyd Pope delivered an ethereal type spell of bowling this week against England in the quarter finals of the U19 World Cup.
Pope took eight wickets when the Aussies looked like losing. Could he take Nathan Lyon's spot in a future Test team?
Horse tip
MY HORSE tip for Saturday is the French import George Patton at Rosehill.
