Mum beats Magistrate to punishing criminal son

A WARWICK mother pipped Magistrate Bevan Manthey to the post, punishing her 25-year-old son for his drug driving.

Joshua Paul Taylor told the court he wouldn't be getting behind the wheel anytime soon for one obvious reason.

"Mum's taken the car off me,"  the Warwick man said.

Taylor was nabbed twice for drug driving with marijuana in his system, once on Grafton St October 15, and again on Fitzroy St October 28.

He went on to say "it was a silly mistake and won't be happening again".

Mr Manthey was quick to rebut.

"I wouldn't mortgage my house on it," he said.

"You've got three pages of history here, so yeah right."

He was fined $1000 and disqualified from driving for 10 months.
