Mum charged after allegedly poisoning four-year-old girl

A YOUNG Queensland mother has been charged after allegedly trying to poison her four-year-old daughter.

Police said the 22-year-old Arundel woman had been charged with the alleged grievous bodily harm of the girl following a joint investigation by South Eastern Region detectives and the State Crime Operation Command's Child Safety and Sexual Crime Group.

The Gold Coast woman appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court today to re-appear at a later date.

News Ltd reported police would allege that the woman had been administering poison to the four-year-old.

The girl is reported to be in a 'dangerous condition' in the Brisbane Royal Children's Hospital.

The woman was charged with hurting her child between June 30 last year and April 11.

She was remanded in custody until her next appearance next month.

The case has prompted furious comments on the Queensland Police Facebook page.
