Mum of five graduates as dux

IF you want something done, ask a busy woman.

Local mum of five Sharon Jamieson has just graduated with a Diploma of Audiometry, was awarded the dux of her class and will continue her full-time role with Mark Paton and Associates.

“I worked at a bank before I had children,” Mrs Jamieson said. “I missed the adult interaction, so I started work as a receptionist at Mark Paton and Associates, once the children were old enough.”

Mrs Jamieson enjoys the satisfaction of helping others, and the work environment.

“I saw the work they did for others and decided I could do that.”

The busy mum began studying for her Diploma of Audiometry at Sydney TAFE in 2009, and has now graduated at a ceremony attended by students from all over Australia.

“I could not have done it without the help of my husband,” she said “He has been so supportive.

“My colleagues here at Mark Paton have also been so helpful. It has been hard juggling everything.

“But I am lucky to have the support of so many people.”

Mrs Jamieson is now a qualified audiometrist, and after another two years of supervision will be a fully qualified hearing aid audiometrist.

“I get a buzz out of helping people,’ she said. “I get to treat everybody from children through to pensioners.”

Mark Paton and Associates Warwick branch manager Lisa Burley is proud of her staff member’s success.

“Sharon has done a wonderful job here with us,” Ms Burley said.

“As a working mother of five – with the youngest being twins – it is an amazing achievement to complete her formal studies.

“But to be dux of her class of 50 students from right across Australia is a very special achievement.”

Mark Paton and Associates, hearing aid specialists, have been visiting Warwick for 20 years, and opened a permanent clinic in Grafton Street three years ago.

With four staff members and a new fully qualified hearing aid audiometrist set to start in May, Mark Paton and Associates is your local hearing aid specialist.

Warwick staff also travel to Stanthorpe three times a month and once a month to Tenterfield.

With 14 clinics located across the Darling Downs and South Burnett, Mark Paton specialises in hearing care for all and can be contacted on 4661 8520, or at 72 Grafton Street.
