Costbusting Mum saves by using eBay to buy kids craft

SAVING money on child-related costs is simple, according to one Daily News cost buster.

Geraldine Watts shared her child costbusting tips on the Daily News Facebook page, describing herself as "my own child car cost buster".

The retired early childhood teacher from Killarney said she buys paints, glue and craft materials in bulk on eBay and through teaching catalogues.

"I take advantage of good clothes sales on eBay," she wrote.

"If you have time late night when the kiddies are off to bed, scroll through eBay and look for bulk clothes in your kids' size.

"You'll be amazed by page four or five at what you can find, name brands and near new - most people are fair and only charge Australia Post charges."

Ms Watts wrote that she only bought new as needed, and pre-loved at regular intervals.

"A great money saver is a product called celmix," she wrote.

"It is a granulated power glue - you add it very minutely to water and it turns into a full paint pot of glue."

According to the costbusting mum, the tub only cost $35.

"I have had it for years now and I am still going and only used about a quarter - you only add the end of a paddle pop stick amount," she wrote.

"If you add food colours you have paint too - nice bright colours."

Ms Watts suggested Choice in Warwick was a great option for people looking to buy cheap craft supplies.
