Murphy called up for Intrust Cup finals game
RUGBY LEAGUE: Former Warwick Cowboys player Dan Murphy has been waiting in the wings of the Sunshine Coast Falcons' starting line-up for most of the season and could this weekend forgo a grand-final appearance with local league club side Kawana to have his chance.
Now based on the Coast, Murphy was travelling to Brisbane four days a week to train with Norths Devils, before switching to the Coast and linking with the Falcons and the Dolphins early this season.
Hopes of an Intrust Super Cup appearance for the former premiership winner at Mackay Cutters looked all but dashed this year until star Falcons halfback Ryley Jacks went down with a groin injury in Papua New Guinea on Sunday.
Murphy has been named in the Falcons side this weekend and could travel to PNG for a finals game, regardless of whether Jacks is fit in time.
"I spoke to my club coach Rob Brough and he said 'whatever happens, happens, I've been waiting my turn for a couple of months,” Murphy said.
