Music helps with recovery

PRATTEN resident Diane Lawlor was at her first country music day yesterday but vows to be back to the Warwick and District Country Music Club.

"I love country music," Ms Lawlor said.

"This is a lovely way to spend a Sunday."

She is president of the Pratten and Bony Mountain Disaster Relief Fund and was at a fundraiser put on by the country music club at Slade Hall yesterday.

Club president Donna Coleman said $2100 was raised to help storm victims.

"We started with a donation of $500 from John Thornton from the Farmers Markets and the Warwick Christian School donated the use of the hall free," Ms Coleman said.

"There has been a lot of support on the day for our raffles."

Ms Lawlor said $1800 was raised at the first sausage sizzle for Pratten/Bony Mountain and the Lions Club of Warwick was assisting with $6000 for fuel and fencing of properties.

"There was damage on farms as well as in the town of Pratten and across to the Bony Mountain Recreation Reserve and country music festival grounds," she said.

The Warwick and District Country Music Club will play at the July 13 benefit at Pratten Hall which starts at 3pm and goes into the night.

Ms Lawlor said it would be the biggest fundraiser to date.

"Have a day with the Pratten and Bony Mountain communities and help support the locals," she said.
