Annual music muster a hit for all song fans

THE threat of bad weather did not deter hundreds of music lovers that gathered at the Glen Aplin Mountview Winery for the inaugural music muster on Saturday.

Award winning artist Luke Austen and Luke Rickuss led a jam-packed list of entertainers.

Mountview Winery owner David McGrath said the day exceeded all expectations.

"We are truly delighted with the response," he said.

"We had people pre-book from as far north as Bundaberg and they were not disappointed with the quality of food, wine and of course great music."

Mr McGrath said community groups had come together in support of the muster, allowing many to showcase the best of the Granite Belt.

Proceeds of the music muster will be donated to CareFlight, the Apple and Grape Harvest Festival ambassadors and the Glen Aplin Rural Fire Brigade.

The Southern Downs Regional Council supported the event by reimbursing the group $850 to cover garbage removal costs and the event permit.

The council turned down the $2000 cash sponsorship and a request to cover the liquor licence fee.
