Muster will herald the start of the Wattles season
RUGBY LEAGUE: The Wattles Warriors will start the 2018 season with a muster at Platz Oval at 10am Sunday.
The club has signed the majority of last season's players and has a number of new players, including A-grade player coach Travis Burns who played 202 NRL/Super League games.
One of the additions to the senior squad from last season is Nick Van Der Poel who played junior and under-18 footy for Wattles before spending 2017 in Townsville.
Van Der Poel won U20 and A-grade premierships with Townsville Brothers last season and also played some U18 games.
His successful 2017 season resulted in his selection in the Townsville Blackhawks U20 squad for 2018 but he has headed south to link with his hometown club.
Burns will be joined on the coaching panel this season by joint reserve-grade player/coaches Garth Lonergan and Michael Crank along with U18 coach Shawn Henry.
Matt Duggan, Ryan Duggan, Dale Perkins, Ty Gardner, Braydon Wilson and Jackson Green are six of last year's players who have re-signed.
Former Queensland U18 prop and Western Mustangs forward Will O'Gradey has signed for a club where he has family connections. Western Mustangs utility player and former Dalby junior Wade Austin has signed with Wattles along with Jake Hargreaves who has Queensland Cup experience.
This season will be the 53rd since the Wattles club's formation in 1966. The club has been in the TRL since 1967 but played the first two seasons under the Allora/Clifton banner.
Wattles will host the Barrett Shield against Warwick on March 3.
All under-18 and senior players welcome at the muster.
