Naitanui sore, but cleared to face the Power

WEST Coast has been handed a big boost ahead of its key home clash against Port Adelaide, with Nic Naitanui cleared of damage to his achilles tendon.

The 23-year-old (pictured) was subbed out of last week's 75-point loss to Geelong.

Although his lower leg remained sore, scans showed there was no major problem with his achilles.

Coach Adam Simpson conceded his star man was struggling to have an impact, but urged fans to be patient.

"Everyone is different," the coach said. "The type of player he is - such a power athlete - to have confidence in your body is the first step and he's still getting that. We'll back him in."

Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley, who welcomes back dangerous small forward Chad Wingard after injury, knows the task at hand will not be an easy one for his charges.

"We're going to have to be at our absolute best to get the result we want," he said.
