Naomi turns her hobby into a passion

NAOMI Jensen didn't know how to use a professional camera just a few years ago.

Now, the self-trained amateur is routinely taking stellar shots, including this cracker submitted for our weekly cover photo competition from Christmas Day, featuring her cattle dog Banjo.

"I took the photo on Christmas Day in the outskirts of Warwick in Willowvale at my dad's place. A dust storm created a red sky in the background, and I caught Banjo looking at cattle on the property,” Miss Jensen said. "Banjo is in a lot of my photos. I've taken a fair few photos of him since he was a pup, and he is certainly not camera shy.

"I started in about 2012, taking photos of sunsets in Warwick. I submitted a photo and it made it into an American photography book. From there I took it up in my spare time, and took photos at every chance I got.” Miss Jensen will have her first foray into photographing groups of people at an event when she captures her friend's wedding in April.

"It's an honour to be asked to do that,” she said.

"I'm looking forward to getting into a different side of photography.”
