CRICKET: Queensland Cricket will turn up the heat for the start of Play Cricket Week with eight cricket stars heading to Warwick this Thursday.
Heat, Bulls and Fire players will visit Toowoomba and the Darling Downs from Thursday to Saturday this week.
They will visit Warwick West State School, St Mary's School, Glennie Heights State School and Warwick Central State School on Thursday morning.
They will speak at assembly at each school and join in activities with the children.
Australian one-day players Billy Stanlake and Sam Heazlett and Test player Peter George will head the visiting players. George took two wickets in his only Test for Australia against India in 2010.
They will be joined by Charlie Hemphrey, Sammy-Jo Johnson, Lachlan Pfeffer, Sam Truloff and Matthew Kuhnemann for the trip to Warwick.
Warwick pair Mark Steketee and Delissa Kimmince are in a group of players heading to Rockhampton this week.
Warwick Cricket Association junior president Andrew Bryson said it was good to see the stars of the game giving back to the community.
"Hopefully the visit will increase interest in the 2017-2018 junior season in Warwick,” he said.
Players from under-7 to 16 years are catered for in weekly Warwick junior cricket which will start after the September/October school holidays.
