NDIS information ‘vital’: Borg

THE roll out of the National Disability Insurance Scheme may still be two years away, but Southern Downs residents are encouraged to inform themselves of the changes now.

Member for Southern Downs Lawrence Springborg said it was critically important that anybody affected by the NDIS got all the facts.

"People need to get as much information as they can to prepare themselves," he said.

"For a lot of people it's still quite complex and confusing.

"People need to be skilled and very aware of what their rights are."

To prepare for the roll out of the NDIS in 2018, the State Government is hosting a series of information sessions in the Rose City next week.

The sessions will be held at Cafe Jacqui's on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Mr Springborg said the information sessions were very important.

"The worst thing that can happen is you leave it to the last minute and not know what the changes are all about," he said.

"The advantage of these workshops is it makes it a lot easier than trying to answer a complex question using an online resource."

The free workshops will focus on getting informed and starting to plan.

The workshops run from 9am to 11.30am and 12.30pm to 3pm both days.

RSVP for the workshops is by 5pm today.
