Neck and neck between Kiwis and Maroons in polocrosse

TWO games today will determine the winner of the Hyfeed Cooper Cup at the Cunningham Polocrosse Club Carnival at Bony Mountain Recreation Reserve.

Yesterday, Queensland won the first game 15-11 and then New Zealand came back in the afternoon to win 15-12.

The New Zealand team is captained by Tony Schrafft who is no stranger to the Southern Downs as he played in the 2003 and 2007 World Cups at Morgan Park.

Schrafft was delighted with the game 2 win.

"We became a lot more accustomed to our horses in the second game,” he said.

Schrafft is determined to be part of the New Zealand team for the 2019 World Cup in Warwick.

"I will keep the young ones honest,” he said looking ahead at the selection process.

He rated joint captains Carly Cooper and John Franklin as the two Queensland players who worried the Kiwis the most.

The final two games of the series will be played today along with two women's and two men's games between Australia and Queensland and Cunningham club carnival games.
