Neighbours to fight crime

THE old story of love thy neighbour could not be more to the point when it comes to safety in the home.

The Safer Living handbook generated by Queensland Police states that being familiar with your neighbours and building a rapport could pay off if your home was to fall victim to burglary or other crime.

"Be familiar with which neighbours you can go to in an emergency before an emergency happens, (and) work out a communication plan to let them know when you feel unsafe," the handbook said.

Emergency: 000
