Netballer heads to state event

SCOTS PGC College student Jessica Ogden has made the Darling Downs 15 years netball team to compete in the state championships in Brisbane on May 19-22.

A Year 10 student, Ogden is the only Southern Downs representative in regional secondary school netball teams this year.

The carnival in Brisbane will be her first in Darling Downs colours.

After playing most of her junior netball in Warwick, she started playing Toowoomba fixtures last season.

She plays division one for the Rata club team under the coaching of Toowoomba Panthers coach Rod Pearce.

A versatile player, Ogden is regarded as a utility for Darling Downs and has played as a shooter and defender for Toowoomba representative teams.

Emma Bell and Ogden are two players from Warwick in the Darling Downs Academy squad which was announced last month.

Ogden will travel to Townsville on the May long weekend to play in the state age championships with the Toowoomba challenge team.
