Netballers to Gatton

NINE Warwick teams will travel to Gatton for round three of the Darling Downs Inter-district Netball competition at Cahill Park tomorrow. There are five rounds in the competition.

The first round of the league was held in Toowoomba and then Warwick hosted round two.

Round four is in Toowoomba and the finals at Laidley in August.

Warwick has been the strongest overall association in the first two rounds.

The Warwick under-11, under-12, under-13 and under-15 teams and Warwick 2 in the open grade are leading their divisions.

Warwick 1 is not playing in the open competition this weekend as many of the players are unavailable.

The team is predominately made up of players under the age of 21.

In the open grade, the more experienced Warwick 2 side won the reserves open division last year, but there is only one division this year.

Some of the open teams comprise players from Toowoomba schools like Downlands and Glennie.

This weekend’s round of games is the final play for teams heading to the state age championships at Maroochydore next weekend.

Two Warwick buses leave Barnes Park for Gatton at 5.45am tomorrow.
