Netflix drama raises lid on issues for some
IN anticipation of the next season of hit Netflix show 13 Reasons Why, Southern Downs viewers are encouraged to stay safe and get informed before watching the show.
The teenage drama has sparked controversy among audiences for exploring themes of mental health and bringing difficult topics into mainstream discussions.
Headspace is collaborating with Netflix to create safe and informative resources for young people, parents and schools.
"No two people will take exactly the same meaning or understanding out of the same episode,” Headspace clinical practice manager Vikki Ryall said
Distressed viewers can find support at Warwick Headspace services.
Tips for young people, parents and teachers on how to watch the show safely are available ahead of the release on Friday, May 18.
Headspace chief executive Jason Trethowan said it was important people knew how to access support.
"While we cannot and would not stop anyone from watching 13 Reasons Why, we can make sure people have access to information and remind everyone there is help available if required.”
Netflix has included a warning and help-seeking information before and at the end of each episode.
