New awards put smiles on faces
BY POPULAR demand, new categories have hit the 2012 Heritage Bank Business Excellence Awards.
Service with a Smile and People's Choice are the two newcomers, and it's up to you, Warwick, to decide who is the most popular business in town.
Rose City Shoppingworld centre manager and vice president of Warwick Chamber of Commerce and Industry Jason Gard said it was a chance for businesses to be recognised on a personal level.
"We receive a lot of positive comments on nominations forms about individual staff who are the most helpful - and their customers want them to be recognised for their superior work and effort," Mr Gard said.
"As a result we have People's Choice - which is judged purely on the number of nominations we receive for each business, the business doesnt have to do anything but accept an award showing that they are the most popular business in town.
"And with Service with a Smile, the public get to vote on their favourite staff member in town - again based purely on votes," he said.
Though nominations have not yet been counted, one business that prides itself of great customer service and a pearly-white grin is Zarraffa's.
Barista Lauren Eddiehausen said it was important to create a happy environment for customers and staff alike.
"I think (good customer service) has the power to make someone's day," Miss Eddiehausen said.
"If you're grumpy they're not going to like the experience, but if you're happy and smile - you can make their day."
