New live music bar set to rock nightlife precinct
A nightlife precinct is set for a new live music venue after Sunshine Coast Council approved an application for a punk rock bar.
Eleven Dive Bar owners applied in November last year to take over the premises at 19 Duporth Ave.
Their rock 'n' roll wish was granted earlier this month.
According to its website, Eleven Dive Bar is an old school punk rock/metal dive bar "paying homage to a time when music was for real music lovers' not festival posers".
The bar aims to celebrate all styles of live music from punk, metal, grunge, blues, and rock.
The building was originally home to a Cash Converters store.
The site is owned by QACPF Big Top.
Application documents showed the owner had given permission for the Dive Bar to use the space and the carparking facilities at the Big Top Shopping Centre.
Plans show the building will be renovated to include a kitchen, bar, dance floor, band room, stage and sound-locked entry.
It's understood the hotel would operate every day except Monday and Tuesday.
The Daily approached Eleven for a comment they said "they are consumed with fit out and event management at present" and "would be happy to do an interview closer to (the) opening date".
