New mag celebrates women
THEY may be known for their scones, jam and cream.
But a new lifestyle magazine, Ruth, shows the Queensland Country Women's Association in a new light.
As the association steps up to attract younger members, it's talking to women about community, parenting, lifestyle and even sex.
The second issue of Ruth magazine, produced by APN News and Media, features stories about what it's really like to live in a small town, how to cope with blended families, making time for relaxation and even internet dating.
There's an inside look at one of Queensland's most beautiful historic houses, stylish autumn fashion, shopping, beauty, gardening and more.
And, of course, there's delicious food. But try prosciutto-wrapped figs and seafood curry, rather than the baked goods for which the association is famous.
After the success of the first issue of Ruth, published last October, the QCWA were keen to produce a regular magazine that would talk to women throughout the State.
Spokesperson Julia Matusik said Ruth would change the way people thought about the traditional organisation and had been popular with both members and non-members alike.
Ruth Magazine is available now in newsagents across Queensland and right here at the Warwick Daily News office, 50 Albion St.
