New market to support our local farmers this Christmas
THIS Christmas Southern Downs residents have a chance to fill their table with delicious local produce and show their support for producers doing it tough.
For the first time, the Warwick Show and Rodeo Society will run a Christmas Farmers Market on December 22 from 9am-2pm to support the agricultural community.
Society marketing and event co-ordinator Teilah McKelvey said there would be fresh produce, meat and hand-made gifts on offer at the showgrounds.
"It's important we come together as a community and individuals... producers are financially probably doing it a bit tough," she said.
"They're all there together, it's a way to come and get your shopping done."
There will also be food, coffee and bar drinks on offer on the day.
The aim is to steer people away from online shopping and towards supporting local makers and producers, but will also be an opportunity to hang out before Christmas.
"If you want to catch up with friends, we'd like it if people hung around and use the time to connect," Mrs McKelvey said.
Producers interested in taking part can phone 46619060.
