Hamilton takes second day as records fall everywhere
HAMILTON has taken out the second day of the Warwick State High School Athletics Carnival.
There were plenty of standouts on show, with records notched despite a hefty wind making life difficult for the athletes.
The Barnes house took out the Most Points in the Relays category as well as the Spirit Cup for the best cheering effort through the day.
Up to 100 students will now head to Stanthorpe in two weeks for the Border District Championships.
Warwick State High School head of department for health and physical education Scott Thompson said there were a lot of quality athletes on show. "The level was of a very good standard," Thompson said.
"I'm not sure of the numbers but I know there were some new records made, which is outstanding considering the wind.
"There are a lot of athletes here who are making representative teams in various sports."
Tim Collins took out the open boy's 1500m while Junior Champion Girl was awarded to Nat Webb, Brendan Hoffman took out Junior Champion Boy and Brent Walker took out Senior Champion Boy.
