New mining development proposed at Elbow Valley

THIRD time could be a charm for Cherrabah Resort as owners Wenxing and Wenwei Ma once again seek approval for a proposed development on the Elbow Valley site.

The 5000 acres of sprawling wilderness on Keogh Rd has been a sore point for the property tycoons, after submissions for both a multi-million dollar tourism venture and bottled water extraction were withdrawn in 2016 and 2018, respectively.

The brothers have turned their sights towards the development of a granite belt mine on the property that would produce 8000 tonnes of stone product annually.

A full report has been submitted to the Queensland Department of Environment and Science regarding air pollution, noise pollution, waste generation and environmental management and water management.

Residents seeking more information or to dispute the application should contact escaircompas@des.qld.gov.au before 4.30pm on July 18.
