Warwick Red Cross calls for summer clothing donations

IT'S spring cleaning time at Warwick Red Cross and the staff are putting out the call for extra summer clothing.

The recent burst of warm spring weather in some parts of the state has reduced summer clothing stocks.

"We are desperate for summer stock," Red Cross Shops Marketing Manager Kate Dear said.

"Those unwanted or pre-loved goods filling your cupboards might be put to better use at a Red Cross shop."

Warwick Red Cross team leader Sheryl Kassulke said the store was in desperate need of men's summer wear.

"We're in the process of changing the stock over," she said.

"It's a slow process.

"We're looking for summer kids clothes, men's clothing and ladies summer dresses."

The staff at the store encouraged residents to make a donation of last season's clothes or clothes they no longer wear.

They also reminded residents to consider shopping at the Red Cross to spruce up their wardrobe.

Red Cross advised donors to sort their clothing into three piles, one to donate, one to keep and one to repair.

Every item purchased at a Red Cross Shop also helps support the everyday work of the organisation.

Last year Red Cross assisted more than 56,000 people affected by disasters and served over 800,000 meals to school children who might otherwise have gone to school hungry.

To make a donation, drop into your nearest Red Cross shop and hand your items over the counter or place them in the Donate Now box at the entrance.

For information phone Red Cross on 1800 811 700.
