New Woolies campaign carves out me time for mums

NEW research commissioned by Woolworths has revealed the average Australian mum spends more than 205 hours a year grocery shopping for herself and the family.

The research also reveals that busy mums could save an average of 20 hours a year by doing their shopping online.

Mums from Queensland take close to seven minutes more than the average Australian shopper to complete the entire process of grocery shopping in-store, while New South Wales mums are most likely to do their grocery shopping in-store, with 93% shopping more than once a week.

The research also showed four in 10 mums shopped online regularly, spending an average of one hour per shop and saving an average of 1152 minutes using the virtual checkout every year.

In the lead-up to Mother's Day on May 11, Woolworths has created You Hour - an hour all about giving busy mums some time back.

You Hour, from 4-5pm this Sunday, will encourage mums across Australia to take an hour off, put their feet up and enjoy some time for themselves.

Those participating in the hour can download and print a Do Not Disturb door hanger, and share photos of themselves relaxing, via social media.

The research backs up claims on website SheKnows.com that what mothers really want for Mother's Day is "me time" and more time with the family.
