Women of Warwick welcome new faces
OUT of a tragic family event sprung a new life direction for the Women of Warwick's latest team member.
When Robyn Wickham's father passed away at a relatively young age, she realised life was short and that she had to follow her heart.
It was that realisation that saw her start a Diploma of Community Welfare and Development.
Mrs Wickham said her ambition was to work with youths.
"I have four teenagers of my own and while it's a lot of fun, they face a lot of challenges," she said.
"It's a really difficult time to be a teenager and I'd like to be able to help other kids through that."
Mrs Wickham said her father's passing had a big impact on her decision to study.
"You don't have much time - you can't keep putting things off," she said.
"It was something I always wanted to do."
Her interest soon drew her to a Women of Warwick breakfast, and after one breakfast she became a member of the WoW team.
"I just wanted to do something more fulfilling - be a part of something that makes people feel good," she said.
"It (WoW) is something that's so uplifting and encouraging for women."
Tuesday's Women of Warwick breakfast was the last for the year.
The next event will be held in early February.
