Ford Kuga gains refresh for 2015

PRIMED for an assault on the rapidly-growing SUV market, Ford has updated its Kuga range.

The price of the entry-level offering has been reduced by $500, while a new automatic derivative of the base Ambiente variant has also been introduced.

Still available with a choice of three engines (two petrol and a diesel), they all yield either more power, better economy, or both.

A reversing camera has been added as an accessory option.

Sync entertainment functionality is also available, which includes emergency assist that can alert authorities as to the GPS positioning of the vehicle in the event of an accident.

Ford's 2.0 litre turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder engine is available in all-wheel drive Trend and Titanium models.

The change boosts power, up from 134kW/240Nm to a new 176kW/340Nm - an increase of 42kW in power and 100Nm in torque.

Base models are available with a choice of 110kW/240Nm (manual only) and 134kW/240Nm 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engines.

The diesel has also been updated with its 2.0-litre Duratorq diesel upgraded to produce 132kW and 400Nm - an increase of 12kW and 60Nm respectively.

"With the introduction of the refreshed Ford Kuga and all-new Mondeo, customers are going to see a whole new face of our brand," said Ford Australia president and CEO Bob Graziano.

"The innovation we've packed into these vehicles brings a new meaning to democratising technology and delivering class leading features at an attainable price point.

"And the upgrades we've made to the Ford Kuga - based on customer feedback - show the action we're taking to push the envelope in the SUV category."

At a gala event in Melbourne this week, where Ford also revealed the new Mustang, the Blue Oval revealed plans for its lifetime capped price servicing plan.

Set to take effect from February, the capped pricing is available on all Ford vehicles built from 2007.

"The expansion of our comprehensive service package addition makes it easier and more affordable to service their vehicles with Ford dealers," said sales and service vice-president Graeme Whickman.

"We have seen a significant increase in retaining customers after introducing our Ford capped price servicing program and expect to build on that success by expanding the program."
