News of another man sends boyfriend into a rage
WHEN he found out the woman he believed to be his girlfriend was packing her bags and chasing after another man, Michael Edward Redgwell erupted into a fit of rage.
The 36-year-old went home with the woman after a night of drinking at a Warwick licensed venue where the woman worked on Boxing Day.
The Warwick Magistrates Court this week heard the woman broke the news that she was leaving town to pursue an ex-boyfriend, and Redgwell became "aggressive and agitated".
Redgwell threw things around the woman's house and on his way out, the Warwick man kicked in a door and broke a gate.
Solicitor Daniel Habermann told the court the woman had been giving his client "substantially discounted" drinks all night and he was under the impression they were a couple.
Mr Habermann added that Redgwell had not meant to break the gate, rather he had simply been trying to open it.
When police arrested Redgwell after the incident, they found a stash of 11 amphetamine tablets inside his wallet.
He tried to tell officers they had the wrong wallet, but could not explain why all of his identification and cards would be in someone else's property.
The Warwick man this week pleaded guilty to wilful damage and possessing dangerous drugs.
He was fined a total of $950 for the two offences.
