Warwick readers say 'no daylight savings, thanks'
DAILY News readers have responded strongly to a viral video of a three-year-old girl asking the Premier for daylight savings.
No daylight savings for Queensland.
- Danielle Moore
As someone who lives in Western Queensland I say shove your daylight saving where the sun don't shine!
- Aileen Sutcliffe
Daylight saving is great! We should have it.
- Laura Brazier
Live on NSW/QLD border and hate daylight savings!! 6 months of the year!!!!
- Angela Swan
It's pretty obvious that three-year-old Ella doesn't live in Western Queensland - worst summer of my life was the year Joe gave us a trial summer of daylight saving - I lived in Mount Isa at the time.
Anyway why does a 3yo's need to get up and play outside have any bearing on decisions that affect everyone's life?
- Diane Wreghitt Walsh
A three year old would have NO IDEA of the impact of daylight saving....she wouldn't even understand the concept of it as one so young has not much idea on time.
This is rubbish (as is daylight saving)!!!!!
- Sue Jones
Seriously, no one wants daylight saving, least of all QLD.
- Vicki Priest
NO!
We had daylight savings before it was hated and useless. Besides what does a 3 year old know about daylight savings...3 year old only worries about playing, sleeping and food they don't have any idea what daylight savings is!!
We don't want nor need daylight savings in Queensland...NSW may have it but we don't have to follow suit!
- Em Mann
I love Daylight Saving, but we DON'T need it.
It gets light at 5.30am and gets dark at night at 6.30-7.00pm.
It works down in Melbourne and Sydney.
- Carolyn Hughes
I asked my ten yr old what daylight savings is she replied when the sun comes up so I agree with Sue Jones.
- Lisa Airs
No. Us farmers work from daylight to sundown.
Realistically daylight savings is only for those in the cities.
Us in rural areas of QLD don't need it.
As it is we are up before the sun and don't go to bed till near 11pm anyway.
Our summers out here sun is up about 4am and doesn't get dark till after 9pm.
So rural areas don't need it.
Personally I think people should just get up earlier.
- Roy Shiralee Louise Murray
I remember when I was younger and Murphy's Law would mean my dad would be home late most nights anyway, after leaving before sunrise!
If the times were different it would just cause more of a mess around.
It really wouldn't bother me personally now as I live in the city.
But unless there's an issue, why fix it?
