No joy for Hooker in Shanghai

STEVE Hooker is not in pole position if he wants to be competitive at the Olympics.

The defending Olympic pole vault gold medallist failed in all three attempts to clear 5.30m, despite holding a personal best of 6.06m, in the Diamond League meet in Shanghai.

It was not all doom and gloom for Australia after Dani Samuels finished third in the discus with a season-best 62.34m.

World indoor long jump silver medallist Henry Frayne finished fourth in the triple jump, while Kaila McKnight finished sixth in the 1500m
