Rose City parents told: no kindy for their sick kids

PARENTS are urged to refrain from sending their children to kindy if they are sick this flu season.

Glennie Heights C&K Community Kindergarten teacher Fiona Milburn said youngsters were better off at home, for everybody's sake.

"It's unfair for the kids and the teachers as well because we don't want to get sick either," Ms Milburn said.

"They're too young to understand that you don't cough on someone else, or leave tissues lying around, so we are always saying to them to wash their hands, cover their mouths.

"But if the child is not well, they need to stay home."

Ms Milburn said teachers could always tell if a child was feeling off colour.

While parents were generally good, it was important all remembered to avoid trying to disguise a child's illness with Panadol or other painkillers.
