No place like home for Matt Campbell
AFTER racing at V8 Supercar and Formula 1 Grand Prix circuits in the past month, Warwick's own Matt Campbell is looking forward to a drive around Morgan Park this weekend.
Campbell drove at Adelaide - a track shared with the V8 Supercars - and Albert Park - a track used by Formula 1 and V8 Supercars - in the opening two rounds of the Porsche Carrera Cup.
But with the Carrera Cup taking a break, Campbell will drive the Torana his late grandfather Bill drove at the track Bill worked tirelessly at.
"It's good to be back home," Campbell said.
"It's a different race meeting to the other ones, there is a lot less pressure and it will just be about fun.
"Morgan Park would probably have to still be my favourite track - I grew up there."
Campbell said he also looked forward to driving something different to a Porsche.
"It's good to get into something different," he said.
"I've had a drive of the Torana a couple of times and always enjoyed it so it should be good this weekend.
'It's obviously a completely different car with different characteristics but I'm looking forward to having some fun."
The meeting will be the CAMS Queensland Motor Racing Championships.
