No power sell-off for QLD says LNP

QUEENSLAND'S government says there will be no power asset sales in the state without an electoral mandate.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard earlier this week gave state governments a December deadline to take the pressure off power prices or face "the big stick of regulation".

The federal government's next energy white paper will urge the states to privatise power assets.

But Queensland Energy Minister Mark McArdle says the federal government's "grandstanding" on the issue will have no effect in his state.

Any proposed power asset sales would be put to voters at the next state election.
