No prep is about the dragway surface not the cars
SATURDAY'S drag racing meeting at Warwick Dragway will be the first major event of the year at Morgan Park.
The No Prep Kaos meeting is on tomorrow and more drivers with street cars can nominate on the day.
I was thinking initially the no prep bit was about not preparing the cars but it is more about no preparation of the track.
The bottom line is it should be a great event with action from 2.30pm to 9pm.
Racing returns
IT JUST seems like yesterday that the Warwick Turf Club raced but it is on again next Saturday with the Allora Cup meeting which was washed out late last year. The club has five meetings in the final six months of the racing year.
The following meetings will be held on February 18, April 1, May 13 and June 17.
With the recent rain and the irrigation at Allman Park, the track should be in perfect condition.
Two thirds
SWANFELS rider Lane Grayson recorded two thirds during the Christmas Run of rodeos in the Australian Professional Rodeo Association.
The next big chance close to home for Warwick area riders will be the Millmerran Show Rodeo on March 4, the first APRA rodeo in Queensland this year. Watch for Warwick trio Grayson, Michael Maher and Mark Collins who are all set to compete in saddle bronc again in a field set to include Millmerran rider John McNamee who had two firsts and one second in the six Christmas Run rodeos.
Send in events
THIS column started a decade or so ago as part of a push for Warwick to become the Horsepower capital of Australia and has continued on.
It is a great chance to promote events of a horsepower nature in the horsepower capital and surrounding areas so please send in your events to gerardw@warwickdailynews.com.au
