‘No truth’ to Downer EDI factory sale rumours

A SPOKESMAN from Downer EDI has denied rumours the Maryborough factory will soon be sold to Caterpillar.

Michael Sharp, Downer EDI's group head of corporate affairs and investor relations, said there was "absolutely no truth" to the rumours.

In August, it was announced 14 planned redundancies would go ahead as the Sunlander project came to an end, but Mr Sharp said no further redundancies were planned at that time and Downer EDI in Maryborough would continue to operate as usual.

Three employees volunteered for redundancy and 11 others were told their roles had been made redundant.
