Nobby pub the toast of the state for country themed bar

IT'S that genuine country pub feeling has been a winning formula for the owners of Nobby's iconic Rudd's Pub.

Publicans Sam and Robyn Little have again blitzed the Queensland Hotel Association awards, winning Best Pub Accommodation and Best Themed Bar.

The awards back up their Australia's Best Pub Accommodation win last year. Mrs Little, who has owned the pub for 10 years, said she was very pleased to be in the winner's circle again.

"It's very exciting - now we're in the Australian awards held next year," she said.

The publicans had no idea of when they were being judged.

According to Mrs Little, the pub owes it success to country hospitality.

"They don't just judge us on the room," she said.

"We've had so many guests say the overall experience is just wonderful."

For decades the iconic themed bar and its many historic collectables have been the wonder for thousands of pub guests.

"It's not a manufactured theme bar," Mrs Little said.

"Ours is a natural, genuinely themed bar - something that's been here a long time.

"We've recognised its potential and added to it over the years."

Rudd's Pub wasn't the only winner from the Southern Downs.

Texas' Stockman Hotel publican Helen Rush was named Queensland's Hotelier of the Year.
