Nominate someone worthy for an Australia Day award

WARWICK residents can now nominate deserving locals for an Australia Day award.

The nomination gives you the chance to put forward someone you know for one of the numerous honours that will be presented at celebrations on Friday, January 26, 2018.

The Southern Downs Regional Council is asking for submissions for Australia Day Awards in order to highlight the great achievements and contributions of those in our community.

Mayor Tracy Dobie said she was looking forward to receiving the nominations.

"There are so many heroes in our community who deserve to be recognised for their work,” said Cr Dobie.

"These awards are a great way to recognise their efforts and to show our appreciation.”

Awards will be presented at Stanthorpe and Warwick celebrations in the following categories for each location:

  • Citizen Award
  • Junior Citizen Award
  • Cultural Award
  • Junior Cultural Award
  • Sports Award
  • Junior Sports Award
  • Sports Administration Award
  • Community Event of the Year

Junior awards are open to those under 18 years of age as of January 26, 2018.

Separate awards ceremonies will be held in Warwick and in Stanthorpe and when making a nomination, the location in which the award should be given can also be nominated.

Nominations close at 5pm on Friday, December 8, 2017 and forms are available at www.sdrc.qld.gov.au or from the Southern Downs Regional Council offices at 64 Fitzroy Street, Warwick and 61 Marsh Street, Stanthorpe.
