Norths run over weakened Warwick
FORWARD Joh Forbes and goalie Kerri Fitch played strongly as Warwick went down 3-0 to Norths in Toowoomba A3 ladies hockey on Sunday night at Clyde Park.
Warwick had five of its strongest players out due to other commitments and played in its latest time slot of the season, 6.50pm.
Despite the loss, Warwick is still leading the competition and plays fourth-placed Red Lions at 4.30pm next Sunday.
Team co-ordinator Toni Cox was impressed with the commitment of the nine players who made the trek to Toowoomba. The team included Sian Hegarty, Angela Groves, Rachael Inmon, Lisa Hemmings, Megan Neal, Kazieh Taganny and Cox.
Five players sustained minor injuries in the game. Cox is in doubt for this weekend due to being hit by a ball in Toowoomba 1 veteran’s training on Sunday. She is confident the Warwick team will do well in the finals series.
“We have a squad of 16,” Cox said.
