Not just another Warwick country music affair

COUNTRY music fans will have plenty to look forward to on Sunday, when the Warwick and District Country Music Club hosts its first social of the year.

From 11am, Slade Hall will ring with the sounds of music, laughter and cheer as people of all ages gather to share their love of country songs.

Warwick and District Country Music Club vice-president Alan Taylor said he hoped to start the year with a big turnout.

"It's the first one for 2016, so hopefully we can get as many people as possible to come along," he said.

"We don't just do country music - we have members who specialise in other types of music.

"I am part of the band A2B and we like to play some '50s and '60s jazz and blues."

Mr Taylor said the socials were a great chance to catch up with friends.

"It's very much a social day - our members are all regular faces," he said.

Club secretary Judith Petersen said everyone was welcome to join in the fun.

"Come along, bring a friend, meet new friends and have an enjoyable day of music," she said.

"For an admission of just $10 there will be a salad lunch with sweets, tea and coffee all day, afternoon tea and a lucky door prize."
